Château-Grillet

Rhône Valley
  • AOC since 1936
  • 10 acres

Château-Grillet was bought by Artémis in 2011. The Château Grillet vineyards are in the Rhône Valley, close to the Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie vineyard. The 9-acre domain has been producing an exceptional white wine from Viognier grape variety for centuries and was granted its very own AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) in 1936. The vintage is one of the very rare French monopolies and also one of the smallest AOCs.

Château Grillet enjoys unrivalled conditions: a semi-circle of old vines grown on carefully tended terraces, in a sandy soil made up of granite, quartz and mica, facing full South overlooking the Rhône and protected from northern winds. Recognised as one of the very best French white wines, Château-Grillet enjoys a great aromatic complexity, intensity and remarkable variety of minerals.Substantial work has been undertaken at the vineyard, in the operating buildings and equipment to get the best out of this unique land. The domain produces two wines, Château-Grillet and Pontcin, an excellent Côtes-du-Rhône made from Viognier grape variety only.
