Exceptional wine dating back to 1331
 |
The name "Château Latour" brings to mind a fortified tower on the banks of an estuary overlooking a river, vineyards and marshes. This tower did indeed exist and even has a glorious past. Château Latour's international reputation was sealed in the 18th century with the reconquest of the English market and the growth of the wine trade in Northern Europe.

Vineyard on more than 67 hectares
 |
Forty-seven hectares surrounding a castle comprise the heart of the estate, called "L'Enclos", which features unique soil protected from weather extremes by the Gironde estuary. It also benefits from a Medoc region climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, which is particularly favourable to the grape's gradual maturation.

Major renovation since being acquired by Artémis
 |
To preserve and enhance its image of excellence, major renovation work was undertaken in 1999 to modernise and streamline winemaking and storage facilities. Completed in 2003, the renovation has led to increased efficiency at Château Latour in terms of both the production process and quality control.

Highly successful vintage
 |
The 2006 vintage, which suffered from unfavourable weather conditions, saw a renewed focus on the grape harvest. The 2006 harvests were some of the hardest to organise in the last 10 years. However, they appear to have produced a very good vintage. The fruity overtones are less bold this year, but Latour’s fine quality remains, with a very strong Pauillac character. Given the complex harvest, this vintage has already created a wine that will benefit from being kept for a very long period, offering a balance between body, structure and flavour. Without reaching 2005’s record figures for nouveau wines, the 2006
campaign is nevertheless promising, with the potential to win the approval of lovers of exceptional wines.
In 2006, the Artémis Group acquired the René Engel vineyard estate, located in the Burgundy region near Vosne-Romanée. The vineyard, renamed Domaine d’Eugénie, holds a very promising future.
